1.     IPL (Indian premium league) cricket excitements and the IPL (Indian political league) political manifestos to lead India to a new level in the horizon of new world order have raised the level of the summer heat this year (2009).

2.     The GC 35, the post GC35 , and  the spiritual renewal animated by the very visit of the new  General in the month of March to India have  helped the scholastics  to renew their commitments to the society of Jesus.

3.     As the youth of today especially the young scholastics gathered here to embark on their personal and collective journey to have  a relevant and meaningful search for their true purpose in life, by transcending their worries , anxieties and probably for  having no impetus to aspire for a true quest in life; this summer 2009 gathering is yet another opportunity to look at life in general and look at the scholastics’ life in particular in renewed manner.

4.     The hopes and dreams of the society of Jesus expressed in the recent documents on our Jesuit “ Identity” and “Mission” may have deepened our true aspirations and our meaningful search as what it is to be a true Jesuit in this 21st century. In this regard the social action group headed by Paul De Souza and his team has been a wonderful blessing to us to help us  become aware of our noble calling to the society of Jesus, to serve the world through the Mother church.

5.     As we are aware of our neighbors and the collective task of bring down the global warming and the global melt down of the economic recessions, our dreams and hopes are tested today than ever before.

6.     At this juncture may I ask my self some pertinent questions. What do I want to do with my life? Do I accept my Life as a gift from God and do I accept the others as gifts form God? How do I want to make my life as a gift for the poor and the people in the periphery of the society and the world? Do I have small dreams or do I dare to dream a little bigger dreams? Is my dream growing or is it shrinking?

7.     India has been a society where shifts in collective consciousness created enormous positive change without mass violence. It would be a betrayal of our heritage to add more anger and hate what already exists in the world.(Deepak Chopra)

8.      Our thoughts and dreams, our way of free association with the poor and the disprivelged, above all our way of living and our availability to the mission should be marked with the model of the Good shepherd Jesus.

9.      As young religious what are we aspiring to address our country and the world as spiritual leaders of tomorrow?

10.                        The soul of India and  the Society of Jesus is longing change and the rise of our “Yes we can” generation.

11.                         Rahul Gandhi spoke of youth power in building the future of the country where as Omar Abdullah and Sachin Pilot thrived on some new ideas and new perspective to important issues in their respective places.

12.                        What can I contribute to the world today, as an individual, as a group of Jesuits and as the scholastic body like this in the Gujarat province  today? Or is it that we are all caught up by whirl pool  trend of ‘ what I can get more for me and for my group?’.
